Ghanaian Gospel Artist, Piesie Esther, has counsel her colleagues in the gospel music industry not to focus on commercial gains as their primary motivation for hosting concerts because they have a higher calling.
To her, their mission is to win souls for Christ and that should remain their ultimate goal. And that while commercial success can be a byproduct of gospel concerts, the spiritual impact of their work should always take precedence instead of focusing on the financial returns.
In an exclusive interview with Graphic Showbiz on the sidelines at the launch of her third annual Flora Made By Grace concert, Piesie Esther who is also 2023 Telecel Ghana Music Awards Gospel Artiste of the Year, urged her colleagues to realign their focus.
“The essence of Gospel music is to spread the Word of God and lead people to salvation. While it’s important to be sustainable in the industry, Gospel musicians should never lose sight of their higher calling—to win souls and bring people closer to Christ,” she shared.
She added “It’s easy to get caught up in numbers, but we have to remember that we are in this to glorify God. When we think about putting concerts together, the focus should not be on making money but on making a difference in people’s lives.”
Piesie Esther also shared with Graphic Showbiz that her upcoming Flora Made By Grace concert, scheduled for November 3, 2024, at the Accra International Conference Centre(AICC) will be a free entry event. According to her, unlike previous years when tickets were sold, this year’s event would be admission-free as her way of giving back to the Gospel music industry and showing her appreciation for the support she had received over the years.
“I’m excited to bring this event to the people and I believe it will be a time of great worship and inspiration. This year’s concert is particularly special to me. For the past two decades, I have been supported by the industry, my fans and everyone who has believed in me. This free concert is a way to thank everyone who has made it possible for me to be where I am today.
“I’ve been in this industry for more than 20 years, and through it all, I have been blessed. This is my way of saying thank you to God and everyone who has contributed to my success,” she added.
