Taptap Send has resumed its money transfer operations to Ghana after the Bank of Ghana (BoG) lifted a temporary suspension placed on the company.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, October 15, the firm announced that the decision followed “fruitful and positive engagement” with the central bank, which led to the early restoration of its services—originally expected to be halted for a month.
The Bank of Ghana had on September 4 suspended the operations of five international money transfer operators—Taptap Send, Top Connect, Remit Choice, Send App, and Afriex—effective September 18, citing breaches of its Guidelines for Inward Remittance Service by Payment Providers (2023). The infractions involved unauthorized remittance activities with certain payment service providers.
Taptap Send expressed appreciation to its customers for their patience and continued loyalty during the suspension period, assuring them of enhanced compliance and stronger operational standards going forward.
“After constructive discussions with the Bank of Ghana, the pause has been lifted earlier than expected. Taptap Send is now fully operational, and customers can immediately resume sending money from the UK, Europe, Canada, the USA, and the UAE to their loved ones in Ghana,” the statement added.
The company reaffirmed that its platform remains “safe, secure, and fully compliant,” emphasizing that it has used the period to strengthen its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of compliance and service excellence in Ghana and other markets.
Recognizing the inconvenience the temporary suspension may have caused, Taptap Send expressed heartfelt gratitude to its customers, whom it credited for sustaining its position as a leading money transfer app to Ghana.
“We would like to express our deepest appreciation to our customers for their patience, love, and continued support during this challenging period,” the statement read. “You—our customers—are the reason we remain the number one app for sending money to Ghana, and we do not take your trust for granted.”
The statement ended on an emotional note, reassuring customers of Taptap Send’s steadfast dedication to their needs and satisfaction.
“Taptap Send is back. We have missed you and cannot wait to see you on the app again. We dey for you!” the company said.
With this development, Taptap Send becomes one of the remittance operators cleared by the Bank of Ghana to resume full operations—bringing a swift resolution to what many had feared would be a prolonged interruption in cross-border money transfers to Ghana.
