Deputy Minister of the Interior, Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, has assured the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) of substantial backing from the newly established Security Fund, which is designed to support all national security agencies.

Speaking at the 3rd Fire Conference 2025, on the theme “Resourcing the Ghana National Fire Service for Effective Service Delivery: The Role of Stakeholders,” Mr. Terlabi stressed that government alone cannot fully finance the Service. He called on individuals, corporate organizations and other stakeholders to contribute to strengthening the GNFS’s operational capacity.

He highlighted the critical role of shared responsibility in improving fire safety and emergency response across the country.

With the harmattan season approaching, the Deputy Minister urged the public to prioritize fire safety and strictly observe preventive measures to reduce the risk of avoidable fire outbreaks.
