President John Dramani Mahama has emphasized the need for enhanced multilateral cooperation to tackle pressing global challenges, including climate change and economic inequality. He cautioned that unilateral actions by individual countries could threaten global stability and undermine efforts toward sustainable development.
The remarks were made while President Mahama received the Duke of Edinburgh, His Royal Highness Prince Edward, at Jubilee House in Accra during the Duke’s two-day state visit to Ghana, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Ghana and the United Kingdom.
During the visit, Prince Edward is scheduled to meet with government officials, traditional leaders, and business executives, as well as tour selected educational institutions and cultural centers to explore investment and partnership opportunities.
The Duke was welcomed with vibrant displays of Ghanaian culture, attended by chiefs from the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, schoolchildren, and senior government officials.
President Mahama reiterated Ghana’s commitment to international cooperation, urging nations to support each other in their development efforts. He called for the formation of new alliances that encourage collective action, emphasizing the need for a “coalition of the willing” to address escalating global trade tensions.
