A police inspector with the Special Weapons and Tactics Unit (SWAT) has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his girlfriend in Adum, Kumasi.
Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, also known as Tycoon, was found guilty by a 5-2 jury verdict at the Kumasi High Court on Friday, October 24, 2025. He had initially pleaded not guilty when he first appeared before the court on July 26, 2023.
Twumasi was accused of fatally shooting 26-year-old Victoria Dapaah, also known as Maadwoa, a mother of one, multiple times in the abdomen and chest on the evening of April 20, 2023, at around 9:50 p.m. in Adum.
The deceased was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital by relatives, but a medical officer on duty pronounced her dead on the same night. An uncle of the deceased reported the incident to the police.
A specialized police operation later led to Twumasi’s arrest at his hideout in Sekyere near Effiduase in the Ashanti Region.
