The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has invited the Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Julius Neequaye Kotey, for questioning over his claim that he rejected a GH¢4 million bribe allegedly offered to halt the rollout of the new Digitalized Vehicle Registration Plate (DP) policy.
In a recent media interview, Mr. Kotey alleged that some influential individuals attempted to persuade him to abandon the initiative, which aims to curb vehicle-related fraud and improve road safety.
The OSP, in response, confirmed that it is engaging the DVLA boss to obtain further details and identify those allegedly involved in the bribery attempt.
In a related development, the OSP has begun investigating a sitting member of the Council of State for suspected corruption and related offenses linked to gold trading.
Sources say the investigation centers on claims that the Council member used his position to influence the issuance of a gold license to a company in which he reportedly has undisclosed business interests.
