The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has launched a card vending system to decentralise the issuance of party cards.
The initiative is to make it easier for Ghanaians to join the party.
The National Chairman of the NPP, Stephen Ayesu Ntim, introduced the system at the party’s headquarters in Accra last Tuesday citing the party’s increasing popularity and high demand for the party cards.
Popularity
“Due to the increasing popularity of the NPP and the bold solutions being championed by the flag bearer of the party, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, more Ghanaians are into it, expressing interest in joining the New Patriotic Party,” he said.
“In view of the high demand for the party card, the national leadership of the party have resolved to decentralise the issuance of the party cards at the constituency and regional levels to enhance the acquisition of the party cards to boost dues payments as part of our resource mobilisation efforts,” Mr Ntim said.
He said it was a strategic move to increase membership and strengthen grassroots support ahead of the 2024 elections.
“The system will enhance the acquisition of party cards and boost dues payment,” Mr Ntim said.
He called for partnerships with private vendors to increase membership drive.
The party has introduced a Dues Code *920*270# for easy payment of dues via mobile money and a vendor hotline 0550326221 for assistance.
Details
The NPP National Treasurer, Dr Charles Dwamena, provided details of the user-friendly system, which he said allows members to easily purchase and register for party cards.
The General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong, also said following the digitalisation agenda being pursued and championed by the party’s flag bearer, Dr Bawumia, the party would continue to come out with new initiatives to boost membership drive.
