Fans have been left amazed by Kylian Mbappe’s ‘perfect’ Spanish during his unveiling as a Real Madrid player.

Mbappe joined the Spanish giants on a free transfer earlier this summer, and underwent his medical on Tuesday following the conclusion of Euro 2024, in which he helped France to the semi-finals.

He took to the Bernabeu pitch in front of 80,000 fans on Tuesday morning, where he was pictured in a Madrid shirt for the first time since leaving PSG at the end of last season.

During the unveiling, he spoke Spanish to the fans inside the ground – also speaking in French – leaving journalists and supporters stunned over the quality of his Spanish.

After revealing why and when he had been learning the language, fans took to social media to reveal their shock.

‘This is literally perfect Spanish,’ one fan posted on X, formerly Twitter, while another posted: ‘Honestly he’s fluent.’

A third posted: ‘He speaks English really well even though he never played in England so not surprised he knows Spanish.’

Mbappe was asked by a journalist when he learned the language, revealing that he started learning Spanish when he realized he wanted to play for Real Madrid.

‘I knew that one day I wanted to play for Real Madrid,’ he said. ‘Obviously I knew that I needed to learn Spanish, this is very important.

‘I really wanted to learn it. It helped me to improve and I also had some Spanish managers and team-mates, so I could really practice with them.

‘I wasn’t afraid of making mistakes; I wanted to learn as much as possible. That’s how I learned.

‘I know I still have to improve and I want to.’

Fans backed up Mbappe’s words, claiming that the 25-year-old was preparing for the move that he knew would one day happen.

‘Of course it is, he knew he’d be at Madrid for like 6 years,’ one fan posted on X.

Another added: ‘He’s been practicing for this moment his whole life’

The player himself said that he knew he wanted to join Madrid so began to learn Spanish

Mbappe opened up on ‘an incredible day’ as he was unveiled as a Madrid player at the club where he will join the likes of Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jnr.

‘My family are so happy,’ he said. ‘I can see my mum crying.

‘It’s an incredible day for me. I’ve dreamed about this day since I was a kid. Being here today means a lot to me,’ he said in Spanish as the crowd persistently interrupted his speech with cheers.

‘Now I have another dream – and that’s the dream of living up to this club’s history and Madridistas’ expectations. I can promise that I will give my all for the club and this badge. I’d also like a send a message to all the kids here today. I was once like you. If you have the passion, you’ll achieve your dreams.

‘I’m very excited and emotional. The fact that I’m talking so much means that it’s very important for me to be here today. This is the club of my dreams and the biggest club in the history of world football.’
