Guru NKZ, a renowned Ghanaian musician, has emerged victorious in the University of Ghana’s Student Representative Council (SRC) presidential electioneer the 2024/2025 academic year. He secured9,455 votes out of 18659, representing a narrow majority of 50.7%. This win comes after a highly contested campaign, marked by initial disqualification and subsequent reinstatement.

Guru, whose real name is Maradona Yeboah Adjei, ran alongside his vice-presidential candidate, Jay Lit, or Jeffery Add-Yeboah as his running mate. Despite the earlier setback, Guru’s team intensified their efforts, connecting with students across campus and focussing on leadership, student welfare and inclusivity.

Guru,s campaign promises centred on addressing students’ concerns and fostering unity within the university community. As president-elect, he aims to tackle challenges such as accommodation, academic resources, and student representation in major university decisions.

The victory marks a significant milestone, bringing the gap between entertainment and leadership. Students are hopeful that Guru’s fresh perspective will bring positive change to the university.
