In a landmark announcement attended by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Ghana’s Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, unveiled a strategic partnership with AMBYLON, a leading German education technology firm, to drive the full digital transformation of Ghana’s education system.
The announcement, made during President Steinmeier’s visit to Ghana, marks a historic step toward positioning Ghana as the first nation to establish a fully digitalized education framework—one designed to deliver modern, inclusive, and accessible learning opportunities for all students.
The initiative will be rolled out in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), and the Center for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling (CENDLOS), which leads the country’s digital and distance learning programmes.
Under the partnership, AMBYLON will deploy its state-of-the-art learning management systems, digital content tools, and immersive virtual reality (VR) learning environments into the national curriculum. The project aligns with the government’s broader vision of leveraging technology to advance equitable access and educational excellence nationwide.
“Ghana is setting a global benchmark,” said Jörn Halsinger, founder and CEO of AMBYLON. “The government’s decision reflects bold leadership and a clear commitment to making digital education a pillar of opportunity, innovation, and equality. We are deeply honored to be part of this transformative journey.”
Implementation is scheduled to begin in 2026, starting with pilot programmes in select regions before a nationwide rollout.
This partnership represents a major milestone in Ghana’s digital transformation agenda, reinforcing its position as a pioneer in educational technology innovation across Africa and beyond.
