The Ghana Education Service (GES) has  released the academic calendar for the 2024/2025 school year for Basic and Senior High Schools.

In a statement signed by the Acting Director for the Schools and Instruction Division, Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, dated October 17, 2024, stated that the new academic year will begin on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, for all Senior High Schools.

The GES noted that first-year students in single-track and transitional schools will end the current academic year on Monday, October 28, 2024.

The school year begins on Wednesday, October 30, for incoming first-year students in single-track and transitional schools and all continuing students in single-track schools.

According to the GES, the adjustment is aimed at ensuring that the 2025/2026 academic year will begin in September to allow final-year students to take their West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in May/June.

GES has instructed all Regional Directors to communicate the new calendar to Heads of Schools to ensure smooth implementation.
