George Quaye, Team Lead at ImageBureau, has thrown his support behind actress and politician Abla Dzifa Gomashie to be appointed Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts in President John Mahama’s new administration.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, George highlighted Dzifa Gomashie’s extensive experience, including her prior role as Deputy Minister in the same sector, as evidence of her suitability for the position.
“For a government that doesn’t have time, this is not the moment to experiment. The sector has thirteen agencies, and we need someone who can bring them together seamlessly. If I had to choose a lead today, I would pick Abla Dzifa Gomashie,” he stated.
George emphasized the need for a Minister who understands the full breadth of the sector, arguing that Dzifa’s comprehensive knowledge and experience make her an ideal candidate compared to other names being discussed.
“The new minister must have a firm grasp of the tourism space to continue the successes achieved by the previous government. You can criticize the Nana Akufo-Addo administration for many things, but tourism isn’t one of them. They got it right and achieved great results. It would be a shame to lose that momentum,” he added.

While the industry awaits the President’s appointment for the Tourism Ministry, several names have been suggested, including creative entrepreneur Baba Sadiq, musician Rex Omar, actress Abla Dzifa Gomashie, actor John Dumelo, actress Ebi Bright, and former Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly boss Kojo Bonsu.
A Seasoned Leader
Abla Dzifa Gomashie brings a wealth of experience to the table. A renowned actress, producer, scriptwriter, and respected politician, she served as Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts under the National Democratic Congress (2013–2017) during President Mahama’s previous tenure.
Currently, Dzifa Gomashie is the Member of Parliament for Ketu South Constituency and a Queen Mother in the Aflao Traditional Area. Her academic achievements include a Master of Philosophy in African Studies, a Bachelor of Fine Arts with First-Class Honors, and a Diploma in Theatre Arts, all from the University of Ghana.
As the President recently announced the first batch of ministerial designates, including Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson (Finance), John Abdulai Jinapor (Energy), and Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine (Attorney-General and Justice), anticipation remains high for the announcement of the Tourism Minister.
With her deep understanding of the sector, Dzifa Gomashie is widely regarded as a strong contender to lead Ghana’s tourism and creative arts agenda into a new era.
