A company in Ghana is required to file its annual returns with the Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC) 18 months after incorporation and for each financial year whether it was in operation or not.

This is mandatory and its failure carries sanctions that can be meted out to the defaulting companies.

This piece thus seeks to provide an education on the four simple steps to meet this legal requirement.

First, download the Annual Returns Form from the website of the Office of the Registrar of Companies or purchase the same from their in-house bank.

Secondly, a Director and Secretary of the company should sign the completed form.

Next, you attach the signed Auditor’s Financial Statement/Statement of Affairs and submit the Annual Returns Form to the Registrar at any ORC office.

Finally, make payment at the on-site bank at the ORC Office and you are good to go.
