Ghanaian Afro-Dancehall artiste Fantana has clarified her stance on cosmetic surgery, stating that she is not promoting body enhancement procedures, even though she is not against them.

Her clarification follows reports that she allegedly told blogger Zionfelix in an earlier interview that she was proud of undergoing body enhancement.

Speaking in a recent interview with Doreen Avio on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Fantana denied making such a statement and explained that her comments were misinterpreted.

“I don’t remember saying that. You know, surgery is a really strong topic, and I don’t want to be here to give young girls the impression that they have to go and have surgery. Everyone should make their own decision,” she said.

Fantana explained that many young girls look up to her, and she does not want her comments to be taken as encouragement to undergo cosmetic surgery.

“There are young girls who look up to me, who haven’t done any body enhancement, and I don’t want to sit here talking about that and be promoting it, because they will start to think they have to have one because I said it,” she added.

While reiterating that she is not opposed to body enhancement, Fantana advised that anyone choosing to undergo such procedures should do so for personal reasons — not because of peer pressure or public influence.

“I will say surgery is not a bad thing, but I feel if you want to do it, do it for yourself, and not out of peer pressure,” she advised.

Fantana, who rose to fame with hits like ‘So What’ and ‘No Dulling’, was also featured in the popular Netflix reality series Young, Famous & African, where she showcased her music career and personal growth journey.
