Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has reiterated the government’s commitment to sustaining and completing viable projects initiated by previous administrations, as long as they deliver value for money and align with national development goals.

He made this known during the commissioning of a newly completed 160-bed dormitory block and a 24-unit girls’ sanitary facility at Bimbilla Senior High School in the Northern Region on Sunday, November 2, 2025.

The project, which began under the previous government in partnership with the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), was completed and inaugurated under President John Dramani Mahama’s administration. Students and staff of the school expressed their appreciation, noting that the facilities would significantly ease accommodation challenges on campus.

Commending the initiative of his predecessors, Mr. Iddrisu underscored the importance of policy continuity in promoting sustainable national development.

“I will be the first to acknowledge the initiatives of the previous government and to assure you that President John Dramani Mahama, under his resetting agenda, will continue with worthy and viable initiatives from the past,” he stated. “If it contributes to Ghana’s developmental needs, especially in human capital development, President Mahama will see it through.”

The Minister, however, cautioned that projects that fail to meet value-for-money standards would undergo strict review. He criticized the abandonment of numerous GETFund projects in the past, describing such neglect as wasteful and unjustifiable.

“We will not repeat the mistakes of leaving GETFund projects to decay,” he said. “Such actions deny taxpayers the value they deserve for their money.”
