The Accra High Court has issued a bench warrant for the immediate arrest of the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.
The order was made on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, after the politician failed to appear before the court during proceedings in his ongoing criminal trial. The presiding judge issued the warrant on the grounds that Wontumi did not seek prior permission nor provide any lawful justification for his absence.
The warrant authorities law enforcement to arrest and present him before the court to ensure the continuation of the trial.
