he Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has taken into custody a soldier seen in a viral video assaulting a pharmacy attendant and a female customer at a drug store located within Burma Camp in Accra.
In a statement signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations, the GAF confirmed that the arrest was carried out at dawn on Thursday, October 30, 2025, by the Ghana Military Police.
The suspect, according to the statement, is assisting with ongoing investigations, while the victims have received medical care and are also cooperating with investigators.
The video, which aired on GHOne TV and spread widely across social media on Wednesday, October 29, sparked public outrage as it showed the uniformed soldier physically attacking the two civilians during what appeared to be a confrontation inside the pharmacy.
The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has strongly condemned the assault, reaffirming that it does not tolerate misconduct or abuse of civilians by its personnel.
“The Ghana Armed Forces assures the general public that it will not condone any acts of assault on civilians and will not shield any soldier engaged in such,” said Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations.
In recent years, the GAF has intensified efforts to address reports of unprofessional behavior within its ranks, underscoring discipline and accountability as fundamental military values.
This latest incident has renewed public scrutiny over the conduct of security personnel, particularly in their interactions with civilians outside official operations.
