Ahanta Traditional Area Commends President for Appointing Joseph Nelson as Western Regional Minister-Designate

The Ahanta Traditional Area and the people of the Western Region have expressed their appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for appointing Joseph Nelson as the regional minister-designate.

Speaking on behalf of Otumfuo Baidoo Bonsoe XVI, Ahantahene, and the Ahanta Traditional Council, Nana Etsin Kofi II, the spokesperson for the Ahanta Traditional Area, conveyed their gratitude to the President for his decision.

Nana Kofi, who also serves as the Divisional Chief of Ahanta-Aboadze and Saanahene of the traditional area, affirmed their confidence in Mr. Nelson, emphasizing that, as a son of the land and the region, he is well-positioned to drive development and progress.

He highlighted the Western Region’s abundant natural resources and the need for renewed energy to spearhead its development across various sectors. He further stressed the importance of harnessing the region’s full potential for the benefit of both the people and the nation.

Despite the many uncompleted development projects and areas requiring urgent attention, Nana Kofi expressed optimism that Mr. Nelson, who has consistently voiced his commitment to the region’s growth, would now have the opportunity to make a tangible impact.

Support for the Minister-Designate

Nana Kofi assured that the Ahanta Traditional Area and the people of the Western Region would stand firmly behind Mr. Nelson, ensuring that the region receives its fair share of development. He emphasized key sectors such as health, education, industries, job creation, agriculture, and fisheries as areas requiring immediate focus.

“As we commend the President for appointing both the regional minister and the minister-designate for fisheries, we, like Oliver Twist, still ask for more. Despite the President’s commitment to maintaining a limited number of ministers, we hope for additional ministerial nominations to support the region’s growth,” he added.
