Parliament Approves First Batch of President Mahama’s Ministerial Nominees

Parliament has approved the first batch of ministers nominated by President John Dramani Mahama, following their vetting by the Appointments Committe

Parliament has approved the first batch of ministers nominated by President John Dramani Mahama, following their vetting by the Appointments Committee.

The approved nominees include:

  • Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson – Minister of Finance
  • John Jinapor – Minister of Energy
  • Dr. Dominic AyineAttorney-General and Minister for Justice

The Appointments Committee unanimously recommended the three Members of Parliament (MPs) for their respective roles:

  • Dr. Ato Forson, MP for Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam and Majority Leader
  • John Jinapor, MP for Yapei-Kusawgu
  • Dr. Dominic Ayine, MP for Bolgatanga East

Parliamentary Debate and Approval

The House debated the motion for their approval on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, in a session presided over by Second Deputy Speaker Andrew Asiamah Amoako.

Following hours of deliberation, both the Majority and Minority caucuses acknowledged the competence and leadership abilities of the nominees, citing their past performances in government. The Second Deputy Speaker subsequently confirmed their appointments.

This first wave of approvals marks a significant step in President Mahama’s efforts to form his government and tackle pressing national issues with a strong and capable ministerial team.
