NDC Parliamentary Candidate Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunnor has emerged victorious in the fiercely contested Awutu Senya East constituency, unseating the incumbent MP and Fisheries Minister Mavis Hawa Koomson.

Naa Koryoo secured 50,886 votes, surpassing Hawa Koomson’s 46,638 votes to claim the seat.

Her triumph marks a major milestone for the NDC in this highly contested constituency, where political competition has been intense in recent years.

Running on a campaign centred around addressing critical local concerns, Naa Koryoo’s message resonated with the electorate, securing her place as the Member of Parliament-elect.

Her victory also contributes to the broader gains made by the NDC in the 2024 general elections, strengthening their position in Parliament.

Speaking after the results were declared, Naa Koryoo expressed her gratitude and commitment.

“It has been a hard-fought win for me. Kasoa is now free and will see development under my watch.”

The announcement of her win was met with jubilant celebrations, as a large crowd of NDC supporters gathered at the Central East Regional Police Command in Kasoa to await the final declaration.
