Iddrisu Zakari, widely known as “Yaayaa”, a notorious illegal mining operator, has been arrested in a sting operation at Bonsu after attempting to bribe investigators and secure the release of his accomplices.
The arrest occurred on Monday, November 10, 2025, at around 6:06 p.m., following a planned meeting between Zakari and NAIMOS operatives, who had been monitoring his activities for weeks.
Officials stated that Zakari was lured into the meeting after expressing interest in influencing the outcome of the ongoing investigation into his illegal mining operations in the Osino Residential Area.
The development follows a November 7 raid on Zakari’s galamsey site by NAIMOS, which resulted in the arrest of 32 Nigerien nationals and four Ghanaian machete-wielding guards.
Zakari has been handed over to the Ghana Police Service for further investigations.
