A fierce fire on Thursday morning destroyed the top floor of a one-storey building at Mamprobi Sureway in Accra, but swift action by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) prevented the blaze from spreading and consuming the entire structure.

Firefighters from the Dansoman station, with support from teams at the Industrial Area, Circle, and National Headquarters, responded to the distress call around 10:13 a.m. The first fire tender arrived within minutes, and after more than an hour of intense firefighting, the flames were completely extinguished.

The inferno gutted the top floor — comprising three bedrooms, a hall, and a kitchen — destroying most of its contents. However, the ground floor, which housed two bedrooms, was saved through the coordinated efforts of the GNFS teams.

No casualties or injuries were recorded.

An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire, which remains unknown. Residents commended the firefighters for their professionalism and rapid response, saying their timely intervention prevented what could have been a total loss.
