The stage is set for a thrilling climax to the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) as defending champions Mfantsipim School, two-time winners Opoku Ware School, and the ever-resilient St. Augustine’s College face off in what promises to be one of the most electrifying finals in the competition’s history.

Scheduled for Thursday, November 6, at the SGS Auditorium, University of Cape Coast, this year’s grand finale brings together three of Ghana’s most accomplished academic powerhouses — all former champions with rich legacies of excellence and fierce rivalry.

Mfantsipim School (BOTWE) enter the contest with history in their sights as they chase a back-to-back championship following their dominant semifinal triumph over GSTS and Mankranso SHS. Victory on Thursday would secure their fourth NSMQ title, further solidifying their place among the quiz’s elite.

Their biggest threat comes from Opoku Ware School (OWASS), who are brimming with confidence after sweeping past St. Peter’s SHS and Achimota School in the semifinals. The Akatakyie are hungry for their third national crown, hoping to end a 23-year wait since their last triumph in 2002.

Meanwhile, St. Augustine’s College (AUGUSCO)— champions in 2009 and 2019 — have once again shown their mettle with a stunning comeback win over Pope John SHS and Amaniampong SHS. With momentum on their side, AUGUSCO are eyeing a third championship and redemption in a final that promises fireworks.

With pride, history, and ultimate bragging rights on the line, Thursday’s finale transcends intellect — it is a battle of legacy, resilience, and prestige.

Will it be Botwe’s brilliance, Akatakyie’s determination, or AUGUSCO’s grit that reigns supreme at the University of Cape Coast?
