Defending champions Mfantsipim School (BOTWE) reaffirmed their supremacy in the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz, defeating arch-rivals Prempeh College and Adisadel College (ADISCO) in a thrilling quarter-final clash at the SGS Auditorium, University of Cape Coast.

Dubbed a “battle of giants,” the contest lived up to expectations — a charged atmosphere of cheers, gasps, and nail-biting tension kept the audience on edge from start to finish.

Right from the first bell, Mfantsipim signaled their intent to dominate. The defending champions stormed ahead with 25 points in Round One, trailed by Prempeh College with 20 points and Adisadel College with 15.

By Round Two, the Botwe boys shifted into top gear, dazzling spectators with speed and precision. They extended their lead to an impressive 41 points, while Prempeh lagged behind with 22 points and Adisadel remained at 15.

Round Three — the Problem of the Day — offered a brief glimmer of redemption for Adisadel College, who impressed with a solid 6 out of 10, the highest score in that round. Mfantsipim followed with 4, while Prempeh managed 2. Despite the shakeup, Botwe maintained a comfortable lead.

In Round Four, the defending champions tightened their grip on the contest, surging to 61 points. Prempeh pushed to close the gap but only reached 40, while Adisadel improved to 31.

Then came the riddle-packed final round — the ultimate test of speed and mental agility. Adisadel fought back fiercely, matching Prempeh point for point, yet neither could catch the relentless Botwe boys. When the final bell sounded, Mfantsipim sealed victory with an emphatic 64 points, leaving Prempeh and Adisadel tied at 40 points each.

It was a thrilling finish that once again underscored Mfantsipim’s legacy as one of the most formidable forces in NSMQ history.

With this dominant performance, Mfantsipim books their spot in the NSMQ 2025 semi-finals, keeping alive their quest to defend the championship and extend their record as quiz legends.
