The family of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, has appealed for privacy as they mourn her death on Thursday, October 23.

Speaking at a brief press conference at her Ridge residence in Accra, the family head, Oheneba Lovelace Prempeh, said details regarding the burial of Ghana’s first female presidential candidate will be communicated by the President in due course.

He confirmed that the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has also been informed of the passing of the wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings.

“The family has informed His Excellency the President, who, in turn, caused a statement to be issued confirming Nana Konadu’s death. At this stage, we are in deep mourning and respectfully ask for privacy. All further announcements will be made by the government,” Mr. Prempeh stated.

Mrs. Rawlings, 76, passed away on Thursday morning after a brief illness.
