Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, sponsor of the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, 2025—commonly referred to as the anti-gay bill—has called on Parliament to immediately reintroduce the legislation for consideration.

The bill was initially listed on the House’s agenda on Tuesday, October 21, but was missing from Wednesday’s Order Paper, sparking concern among members of the Minority Caucus. Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga later explained that its omission was due to an administrative error.

Speaking to journalists in Parliament on Wednesday, October 22, the Assin South MP stressed that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government must ensure the bill’s passage.

“We will not allow the NDC government to run away from the bill. It is a Bill that is important to all Ghanaians. We all know the propaganda they put out for this Bill. The lies they peddled, but we passed them when we were in government. Why are they running away from passing the Bill?

“We’re demanding that the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, 2025, be passed now and not deferred to any other time. Where they stole the Bill to, they must bring it back and feature it on the order paper. Ghanaians are demanding we pass the Bill now,” he asserted.
