The Central Regional Police Command has arrested 49-year-old fisherman Samuel Armah, also known as Kofi Nyan, for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl in Mumford, Apam. The incident reportedly surfaced after a video of the act went viral.
According to ASP Patrick Bentum, Acting Head of Public Affairs for the Central Regional Police, the Apam District Police Command received information on October 17 that Armah had lured the girl into a ghetto in Mumford and committed the offense on October 16.
The victim was taken to St. Luke Catholic Hospital for medical examination and treatment. Following the hospital visit, the case was referred to the Central Regional DOVVSU, where Armah admitted to the offense and was subsequently detained.
Police have appealed to the public, especially residents of Mumford and surrounding communities, to help apprehend four alleged accomplices—Agoogo, Edina, Kwesi Abbam, and Agya Ankoto—who remain at large.
Armah is expected to be arraigned in court for prosecution on October 23.
