Residents of Manso Nyankomase in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region have taken to the streets to protest what they describe as persistent military brutalities in their community.

The demonstrators, clad in red and black, marched through the town to express their frustration and demand immediate government intervention. They later presented a petition to the District Chief Executive, urging him to forward it to President John Dramani Mahama for action.

According to the residents, an unidentified company recently entered the area, claiming to be reclaiming degraded lands without consulting local authorities. Tensions reportedly flared when community members attempted to stop the company’s activities, leading to a violent confrontation with armed soldiers guarding the site.

Five residents were said to have sustained injuries during the clash.

The protesters are calling on the government to compel the company to clarify its operations in the area and to withdraw the military personnel immediately to restore peace.
