Ghanaian music producer and Chief Executive Officer of Xtra Large Music, JMJ, has stated that he is still paying debts from productions he did for his former artiste Kaakie.

He told Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z that apart from revenue from live shows Kaakie played, he didn’t make gains.

“As we speak, I am still servicing debts,” he told the host Kwame Dadzie.

Asked if he has not made money from the songs which he still has rights to, he said when those songs were released, they lacked knowledge of how to market songs on digital platforms.

“Half of our songs are being monetized by other people,” he indicated.

JMJ however admitted that they had some revenue from shows they played.

“Where we were seeing inflows were direct shows. That is why back then we paid attention to shows more than all of these things” he said.

He also noted that he did not make money from music production when he started.

“Some of the things we were doing we didn’t even think we are going to make money out of them.

Let me put it this way I didn’t make money [from my music productions],” he said.

According to him, there were times he had to even pay for the transportation of the artistes that came to record music in his studio.

Born Joshua Raphaelson, JMJ has worked with artistes such as Kaakie, Samini, Stonebwoy, Obrafour, Sarkodie, Adina, Ghetto KB, Jah Lead, Amalina, among others.
