The Catalan giants have released the first pictures of the shirt they will sport next season as they aim to reclaim the La Liga title back from Real Madrid. Barca have returned to a classic look, paying homage to the first ever kit they wore back in 1899.

A simple design of two panels in blue and maroon will be worn by the Spanish stars next season, highlighting the team’s long, successful legacy.

Their plans to reconnect current fans to legends of the past comes as Barca look to celebrate their 125th anniversary, taking fans on a journey and bringing them closer to the club’s DNA. In a release video made by the club, Ronaldinho is the first to grace the scene, passing a ball to current Barca stars while revisiting moments throughout history. Spanish youngster Lamine Yamal is one of the next players to appear – showing the contrast between past legends and players of the future.

The unveiling also pays close attention to what it means to be Catalan, allowing players to engage in some fun, cultural activities. Robert Lewandowski, Ronald Araujo and Pau Cubarsi are seen sharing some tomato bread, before Pedri and Fermin Lopez sit down to do some Spanish painting.

Barca’s new kit will be worn by both the men’s and women’s teams next season and fans will get their first taste of the exciting look when Hansi Flick’s side begin their pre-season tour of the United States.

The Spanish side are set to face Manchester United, Real Madrid and AC Milan in North America before the campaign commences.
