The Junior Doctors’ Association of Ghana (JDA-GH) has called off its planned nationwide withdrawal of services following deliberations with the Ministry of Health and other relevant stakeholders.
In a statement dated October 6, the association said the decision was taken as a “gesture of goodwill and in the interest of uninterrupted healthcare delivery.” It added that the suspension is intended to give the government time to honour its commitments to the association.
“The suspension allows government the opportunity to implement its commitments,” the statement read.
The JDA-GH, however, cautioned that it will closely monitor the government’s actions on the outstanding issues and will not hesitate to resume industrial action should the agreed timelines be breached.
The association warned that it would have no option but to resume industrial action without notice if the government fails to honour the agreed timelines.
The Junior Doctors’ Association of Ghana (JDA-GH) reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality healthcare to Ghanaians but stressed that the welfare and dignity of its members remain non-negotiable.
“We remain committed to the health of Ghanaians, but the welfare and dignity of junior doctors cannot be compromised,” the statement noted.
The association also expressed appreciation to all stakeholders, members of the public, and the media for their support and understanding throughout the negotiation process.
