An Accra Circuit Court has remanded 55 foreign nationals into prison custody after their arrest at Kuntunse near Amasaman for allegedly entering and residing in Ghana illegally.

The suspects, who form part of a group of over 100 migrants, were apprehended by the police on October 7, 2025, following an intelligence-led operation. They have denied claims that they entered the country through unapproved routes or without the necessary permits to live and work in Ghana.

Prosecuting, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emmanuel Haligah requested their remand to allow for further investigations. He told the court that police, acting on intelligence, discovered the accused persons in a house at Kuntunse-Satellite, a suburb of Accra.

Upon interrogation, the suspects reportedly refused to reveal their true identities and were subsequently transferred to the CID headquarters for further questioning.

Investigations revealed that the accused, believed to be citizens of neighboring francophone countries, entered Ghana through unauthorized routes between February and September 2025. They also failed to report to the Ghana Immigration Service to present travel documents or complete the necessary immigration procedures.

ASP Haligah said none of the 55 suspects possessed valid documentation allowing them to reside or work in the country. They have since been charged and brought before the court.

The accused include Igobere Mata, Victoir Abubakar, None Adams, De Paul Smith Ekollo, Oumar Sylla, Martine Ndmebe, Moustik Noird, Oscar Oman Kamoki, Brice Bangassou, Carlos Ngande, Kone Issa, Buinwi, Amadu, Blesse Djami, Dieudonne Torrentot, Albert Binyame, Jordan Konlack Kuete, Youssoupha Fatar, Njufack Loic, Douanla, Romeo, Alliun Fouko, Edouard Nkoum, Ngong, Zidane, Cheba Ben, and others.

The remaining suspects include Kadzo Rene, Abdoul Aziz, Mathieu Mbala, Wati Jony, Pinto Jean, Pombe Abel Patrick, Moussa Patateh, Kadjo Herman, Bokoe Nanje, Onaana Vincent, Promesse Amini, Okole Ngee, Philippe Yang, Alrie Ali Bouba, Kilton Waga, Henry Smith, Nestor Eku, Pende Billy, Madi Henry, Ditamou Gasparl, Jean Traore Alomo, Yota Josltin, Kenfack Frank, Bita Benard, Ousman Api, Mouyoung Dibrile Rene, Manga Gilbert, and Atangana Jean Issa.

The court ordered their continued detention to assist with ongoing investigations by the police and immigration authorities.
